This is a fun activity in Southampton
Spend a day doing something genuinely rewarding. Set in a stunning Hampshire location, this small and intimate hand-building pottery workshop is a chance to step away from the everyday, work with your hands, and create something beautiful under the guidance of a skilled and passionate potter. The pace is relaxed, the atmosphere warm, and the day is yours to enjoy.
You'll be introduced to three fundamental hand-building techniques: pinching, coiling, and slab building—each one opening up different possibilities in clay. Whether you're picking up clay for the first time or returning to a craft you love, the day is tailored to you. Complete beginners are warmly welcomed, and more experienced potters are encouraged to bring their own ideas and ambitions. There's plenty of guidance and space to develop a personal project with expert support.
At the heart of the day is a homemade lunch, served with freshly baked bread made on site. It's a chance to pause, connect with fellow makers, and take in the beautiful surroundings before returning to the pottery refreshed.
Your own handmade pottery pieces, a set of new skills, and hopefully a little of that rare satisfaction that only comes from making something with your own hands.
