This is a fun activity in Battersea, London

Looking for a new hobby to indulge in this summer? Get your print on with this fun art class in London!

This introductory workshop is a great way to kick start your printmaking journey. Your friendly teacher (and printmaking expert!) will teach you two techniques: lino and drypoint. After that, it'll be up to you which one you will explore for the rest of the workshop.

What is drypoint printmaking?

Drypoint is a fun form of printmaking that involves scratching an image into a thin plastic or metal sheet using a variety of tools. The lines made are then filled with ink and finally, transferred onto paper.

What is lino printmaking?

Lino, also known by those in the business as 'relief' printing, works in the opposite way to drypoint. With lino printing, you start by cutting away everything but the image, then ink the outlying surface and then finally print onto paper.

This adventurous arty class perfect for creative enthusiasts, beginners or someone who's simply looking for a new hobby or fun things to do in London.

By the end of your introductory printmaking workshop, you'll not only have a whole host of newfound knowledge and skills but also your very own prints to take home and admire.

Our teacher Lorenzo was great and explained the steps well. He supported us through our evolution from our drawing, to the lino cut part and then the final printing process. It just felt like a home activity with friends. We received some guidance and advice whenever we needed it. I will try it again.

I took my dad to this as his 70th birthday present as he’s always wanted to try lino printing and we both absolutely loved it. The teacher was fantastic and gave really clear instructions, regularly checked in with everyone in the class, and let us experiment with multiple prints. It was a lovely environment and we were both really happy with our prints which we were able to take home. I’d definitely recommend this and thought it was excellent value for money and a really fun and unique way to spend an afternoon.

We really enjoyed the class. The instructor was very helpful, and encouraged everyone towards picking and developing a technique to get the best out of the printmaking technique and reference picture they chose. Depending on how fast you work, you can get to make a few or even several prints (in different colours if you like) of your finished piece to take home. By the end of the session the whole class's prints looked great! You could pick your own design if you planned in advance, i recommend doung this! But he also provides some examoles of prints which can serve as onspirration and can print photis for you to use. We would happily do it again.
