A fun class with a patient teacher, taking time to give each person some individual attention. We learned 5 different stitches which was very good. The room was nice and big, so it did not feel too restrictive, despite the horrid heat outside. However, we did not do what was advertised: What to expect: Learn how to set up fabric in an embroidery hoop and get comfortable with the basics. Practice a variety of stitches including backstitch, satin stitch, stem stitch, and French knots. Master pattern transfer techniques to bring your chosen design to life. Pick up tips on colour selection, thread handling, and finishing your piece beautifully. We did not set up a fabric in a hoop at all! (I was looking forward to that to learn about the tension etc, instead we had a square of canvas type of fabric and another fabric). The satin stitch and French knots were the stitches I really wanted to learn, but we practice: running stitch, backstitch and stem stitch (as advertised) and chain stitch. The reason I wanted to do this workshop is because we were supposed to learn pattern transfer techniques (window or screen method etc), which I understand is about drawing your design and how to transfer it to your fabric in order to practice your stitches! Instead we had a selection of beads, fabrics etc to join together, which is a mixed media and not pure embroidery, which is fun but not exactly what was advertised. Overall, the workshop was fun, for a good cause, reasonably priced, with a patient teacher, attentive to the attendees, and I have learned a few stitches, but the wording of the ad should be revised to be a bit clearer :) Thank you for an interesting evening!
