This is a fun activity in Neasden, London
Head to YI Crafts studio in Neasden, London for this 3-hour workshop exploring traditional Bai embroidery, inspired by the rich textile culture of the Bai ethnic community in Yunnan, China.
Together, you'll explore the patterns, colours and symbolic motifs found in traditional Bai garments and aprons, starting with the cultural background and history behind the craft. From there, you'll be guided through several basic stitching techniques before putting them into practice, stitching your own Bai-inspired design onto a 100% cotton T-shirt to create a wearable piece that brings traditional craft into everyday clothing.
There's nothing you need to bring – a cotton T-shirt and all embroidery materials are provided. This workshop is suitable for beginners as well as anyone with a wider interest in traditional textile crafts.
Please note: you'll receive studio and workshop information by email a week before your session. As seating is limited, please cancel at least 7 days beforehand if you can no longer attend, so we have the chance to offer your space to someone else.
