This is a fun activity in Cookham, Slough
Join this clay workshop in a warm, cosy Cookham studio and get hands-on with pottery in a calm, welcoming space designed for unwinding and bringing your ideas to life. With a background in textiles and years of experience working with little ones, your teacher creates a relaxed setting that's perfect for children, families and adults alike.
Sessions run 1-to-1 or in small groups of up to four, so you'll always have plenty of support close by. Whether you're a complete beginner or you've had a go at clay before, you'll be guided step by step to shape, texture and decorate your very own unique piece. Choose between hand-building or trying your hand at the pottery wheel, and look forward to decorating your piece with special touches like vintage lace passed down through generations, beautiful local foliage and sea glass. It's a mindful, screen-free way to spend an afternoon – take your time, enjoy the feel of the clay in your hands, and leave the rush of everyday life at the door.
By the end of the session, you'll have created one or two pieces of your very own. From there, your teacher will take care of the drying, bisque firing, glazing in a colour of your choice and final firing, turning your piece into a food-safe, lasting finish you can use again and again. This process takes a few weeks, and you'll be let know as soon as your work is ready to collect.
Please note: there's only one pottery wheel available, so if you're in a group, you'll need to take turns.
