“Helen was an incredibly friendly and patient teacher. I had never picked up a crochet hook before but by the end I had learnt half a dozen common stitches and even made a small granny square! The home location made parking easy and created a relaxed learning environment. Helen provided clear instructions and conversion guides to take home and refer to later, plus yarn and a hook for us to keep practicing. The number of attendees was small (only 4) so she could readily help each of us individually. Helen was also happy to help me read and understand a pattern I had bought from home, nothing was too much trouble!”

She ran us through all the basics of crochet such as, how to hold a crochet hook, what the sizing means, different yarns and materials to use, difference between American and British terms, and how to read patterns. When going through the basic stitches and then the granny square, she was patient and helped explain when was lost with the next step or did the wrong stitch. It was a relaxed learning experience, she didn't rush us when the class was suppose to finish, instead letting us finish our round in the granny square. When she found out that took the class to eventually crochet toys, she showed how to do a single stitch and let me practise”
