Alma is exceptionally knowledgeable. She started by offering us a variety of wood cuts, taking the time to explain the characteristics of each—including how they carve, whether they are Australian natives, and the story behind how she sourced them. Safety was a priority, and she demonstrated proper techniques clearly, with all the necessary tools perfectly set up for our group of seven.
The atmosphere was very relaxed, making it easy to lose yourself in the process from 10am to 2pm. We had several options for our bowl project, and the end-to-end process was very satisfying; we carved, sanded, and then chose from three different food-grade oils, with Alma explaining the benefits of each.
It was very beginner-friendly, and even as a novice, I felt supported throughout. Even though my first attempt isn't a masterpiece, the process was so rewarding and I’m proud of what I learned. I highly recommend this workshop for anyone looking to learn a new skill in a calm, creative environment. Thank you, Alma!”
