“Overall a poorly run class. There was no real explanation or direction unless you prompted one of the staff running the workshop. At one point we were told to "move onto the next step" without actually being told what it was.
The working area wasn't level so when other people taking the class were working tools would roll down the table. It was a rained out day so maybe this was a backup area. This became especially iritating when it came to soldering and the stand would move around when torching the joint.
We were told to sign a safety waiver without being told or shown what we were signing. It was only discovered after that there were safety documents at the back of the design booklet we were given.
Once the solder joint was made and the ring was closed we didn't get the chance to try clean it up before it was taken to get polished. Two of our rings came back with polish over a very poor solder joint with no instruction or opportunity to fix it. One of the rings was taken to get polished and came back with the wrong polish. Now about two weeks later the polish (rough oxidised look) seems to be wearing out given fairly typical wear/usage - see attached. Possibly due to needing to be re-polished to fix the mistake?
It came across as more of a cash grab than a legitimate class or workshop.”
“If you’re looking for a jewellery making class with a laidback vibe and a fun and enthusiastic jewellery maker/teacher then come and visit Adam at Vin Moulds and Sons. After 2hrs you get to take rings home that you made! I would like to come back for the bangle making class.”
