I had a private wheel throwing class that was really good. I found it really beneficial to have a private lesson because I really needed someone available to help me during all of the stages of wheel throwing. It makes it easy when the teacher can focus purely on one student if you need help with every step. The teacher was very attentive. I recommend this class if you have done a bit of throwing but can’t remember exactly how to do it. It would also be good for someone who has never done wheel throwing before. My class way purely focused on wheel throwing and not wedging or glazing. Perfect for what I was after. The marbled clay we were using was beautiful and the pieces turned out looking a little bit like Saturn and Jupiter before firing. Happy I attended.

Wouldn't recommend to any beginner. Class got interrupted numerous times due to an issue unrelated to the class, which made the teacher be unavailable due to dealing with other people coming in or spending time on his phone. Then after an initial representation of how to work the clay to warm it up, we were left to our own devise. Questions on how to work the clay into an object couldn't be explained so everyone understood. Between the six of us we managed to teach each other more than he could. He mentioned he had 12mths experience which might be an indicator to the lack in teaching ability. Halfway thru the wheels started to run out of power (only 2 chargers for 6 wheels) so we've spend another while waiting in turn for a fix. I'm glad we had enough time to finish a bowl at the end but I wish there was more guidance given on how to manipulate the clay.

The art studio was well presented and very well located. Opportunities to practice prior to making the final product were useful. I was grateful we at no time felt rushed through the experience. As it was a beginner class, a step-by-step teaching methodology with regular feedback and feed forward would be more beneficial than the provided initial demonstration followed by free exploration. The teacher was frequently distracted by other visitors, locating power sources for the spinning wheels and his phone which resulted in many in the group feeling unsure how to proceed or progress. This course is suitable if you are seeking a relaxed session and different art activity in Adelaide where you are free to explore.

The teacher was helpful and showed the steps. Thought it would be a class with others at the set time but felt more like a drop in session. Was good, but not great.
