Jo is a fantastic teacher. Easy to understand and gives very informative demonstration. Spread herself around to answer questions from everyone and found the extra time for clients who needed more help. The only negative thing that there wasn't enough bench space to accomadate us in that studio.

I can see that the school, the set up, the teacher was great. Unfortunately on this occasion I didn't have a positive experience -It was difficult to find, not enough instruction or signs or indicators to say where the class actually was -The size of the class meant some students had to move to another room -The teacher had mini lessons throughout the class which was good but the same time the people in the other room weren't told when this was happening, except when I took initiative to tell them -I came away after 5 hours, with my pieces cut out but not sewn -I started sewing finally at 3:15, only to then have my spot crowded with a mini button lesson, which was when I decided to leave... In the past I have been to classes where we follow along with instructions and there's a bit more structure to the day The teacher supports all students that asks for it and I feel ok going away and making something myself But in this case, I didn't get this here. I think next time the set up of the class could have been better to make it possible for everyone to learn I also thought for the price, that could have included a pattern we all followed or fabric or something like that, because it was pretty expensive. The teacher was very positive and enthusiastic about sewing, when you did have a question she explained things well.

Jo was really willing to help and give advice and instructions on all our questions. The class was focussed on how to read a sewing pattern. I’d suggest if you’re a beginner to take a simple indie pattern that just has darts or a zipper as they usually have instructions and YouTube videos that you can follow along with if you need to complete your piece at home - or if you’re more advanced to take a more challenging pattern so you can take advantage of the teacher being able to guide you through something you might find a bit daunting or confusing. Overall it was a good class, I’ve been to SOSU for their sewing basics and overlocking workshops so I’d love to learn more advanced techniques and work with more challenging fabrics at SOSU in future!

Absolutely fun, really enjoyed spending the time with my mum and sister learning to sew. It was incredibly informative for a newbie sewist. The time goes really really fast though, so be prepared to work fast!

I already knew how to sew but I learned so much from this class. I will definately be doing more classes at the school of sewing. I also purchased the sewing kit and it is very cute with lots of useful items.
