We enjoyed a very relaxing Kintsugi Class with Yow! He was so personable and explained the process and cultural aspects in a really meaningful way.

Thoroughly enjoyed this class. Yao was so good at teaching and explaining the process and the difference between the traditional way and the modern way. So pleased with my piece.

Yao was a great teacher & extremely generous of his time not only during the class but also afterwards - it was so nice of him to offer help with personal projects afterwards if we had any questions we needed his help with. I did this class with my 87 year old mum - she has Alzheimer’s Dementia & I’m trying to engage her more in useful & interesting activites. This one was our 1st & boy was she blown away! I did give her the background beforehand but it wasn’t until we did the class that she appreciated the opportunity she was getting to learn something so culturally & historically significant. She needed a lot of hand-holding from Yao, & I was relieved that he was more than willing. When we were driving home, mum could not stop raving about her plate & how amazing the class was. I want to try this at home with some broken pieces I wish to mend, so Yao thoughtfully helped me with the required products by putting them together for me to photograph so I can buy them when I get home to Sydney. My only suggestion for follow up or change is that in your requirements you say to bring snacks & we really didn’t have any time for this, not were we able to enjoy a cup of tea/coffee with them. So there was an expectation that was set up here, which didn’t really need to be from our persoective we were fine without, but we had gone to a little bit of thought on what to bring so best take that out for future if it isn’t part of the class. Thanks again Yao!

Although pleasant enough. They did not introduce themselves. They smelt - exceptionally bad breath. Hair that hadn’t been washed for weeks. Clothes stank. To top it off they wandered off playing with their phone. I did this course to honour my father and walked away dispirited. A dollar plate from Kmart that was rushed and not close to the traditional kintsugi art techniques. They kept saying this is my way. It’s quicker. I didn’t want rushed or quicker. I wanted to transform what was broken into beauty. As the Japanese tradition - infinitely more beautiful than originally made.
