“This was a very interesting and informative class. Our teacher, Sonya, really knows her stuff! We helped prepare and bake two different banana breads plus a sweet and a savoury sauce. We taste tested everything we made, along with a supermarket brand banana bread. Along the way Sonya named each ingredient we were using, explaining its purpose and nutritional benefits. This allowed us to compare the taste, texture, and nutritional value of each item. While we were eating, Sonya showed us graphs of each item and how they compared in terms of glucose spikes and what happens to your body afterwards. She also showed us a handy ingredient chart for baking which describes how to make substitutions and still get the desired result. You get all this useful information in a package to take home, in addition to samples of everything you made . Tip 1 - arrive a little hungry because you get lots to eat, including savoury items. Tip 2 - take notes about any information that is new and interesting to you.”
