“My second time enjoying the Zip Pouch Sewing Workshop at Brooklyn Stitch Studio, and it was even more enjoyable than the first!!!
In this session Katy; company owner and instructor; offered me a private session after the other students re-scheduled. Then after arriving she offered to teach me how to create a zippered pouch using two different types of fabric and/or vinal to create a two-tone pouch. She then also offered to teach me how to create zippered box style pouch, and for the second pouch an alternate method of sewing the zipper. I chose to learn the new techniques. (smile) And I combined the two-tone with the box style. The zipper method she taught was using a fabric to cover the ends of the zipper.
I'm looking forward to taking other sewing workshops at Brooklyn Stitch Studio.”
“The Zip Pouch Sewing Workshop was just as enjoyable as the tote back workshop (taken Feb 21). Kate (the instructure) is very friendly and worked right from the start to make the participants relaxed with the workshop begin conducted and sewing in general.
As in the tote workshop, Kate began by letting everyone there some light refreshments and water available, after explaning what we'd doing, she provided a sewing demostration, essentially how to use the machine. After the demo, we practiced sewing; and secondary action, become familiar/comfortable with the sewinhg machine.
After practice, each person chose the materials s/he wanted to use for their two (2) pouches. Two fabrics for the exterior, two fabrics for the interior and a zipper. Then we proceeded to create our pouches. Kate would demo a step; i.e. how to sew the zipper between the interior and exterior; then we followed the demo to sew our individual pouch.
Brooklyn Stitch Studio is a small studio, but filled with a very energetic owner and plenty of opportunity to makea tote bag our pouch with no pressure. (I mean no pressure, Kate after informs we the workshop participants, that if you make a mistake that isn't easily correctable, just toss is aside, get new materials and start over.) I recommend Brooklyn Stitch Studio wholeheartedly.”
