We did the Batik Paint and Sip with Jillian for a bachelorette party and had a great time! Jillian was great to coordinate with and the activity was super fun. We had a range of artistic skill in the group, the more advanced people had fun blending the dyes to make their own colors while the beginners could use a range of existing colors. We all made very nice and unique pieces that we were happy to take home.

The Batik Paint and Sip Experience as a very enjoyable experience. To begin Jillian; the instructor; had called me when I was running late to determine my status. When I informed her I was at the corner she sent down her daughter to escort me to the studio. A very nice first impression of Jillian and daughter. When each person booked the Batik experience, we received a pdf file containing twelve images and then requested to chose one that would be what was painted at the class. Also available for selection what the image would be placed on, a frame, tote bag or a 10" circular frame. Jillian then began with an explanation of what Batik painting is and then informed myself and other participants on how she prepared each person's selection with the wax to better aid the painting and also added the baking soda that would normally be added to the paint to the canvas to make the painting simpler. She also advised on how the best practice was to paint those areas that were to be lighter in color first, so that if a little crossover occurred the darker color would dominate. Jillian and her daughter also were very helpful in aiding us; the participants; on how to better mix colors to attain a different color. Also, advised on how to add water to the color to make the color appear lighter. After each finished his or her selection, Jillian then placed a fan over the selection to aid in drying. After drying using the fan, Jillian then instructed each when they got to the step on how to iron the selection to remove the aforementioned wax. After the wax was removed the paint took on a brighter appearance. I would recommend the Batik experience to anyone who likes painting or wants to begin painting.
