“My friends and I were really excited to attend this perfume-making workshop for a fun girls’ night based on how it was advertised, but unfortunately, the experience didn’t match expectations.
The workshop was described as a guided, beginner-friendly experience where participants would learn how fragrance notes interact and receive step-by-step support in creating a personalized scent. In reality, the instruction portion lasted only about 5–10 minutes and was delivered very quickly. Two of us are high school teachers, and we were genuinely surprised by how little guidance was provided and the lack of check-ins or support throughout the workshop.
The brief introduction consisted mainly of the employee pointing out which jars were categorized as top, middle, and base notes, followed by quick instructions to measure up to 5 grams of fragrance oil, combine it with 11 grams of jojoba oil, and use a magnetic mixer to blend it. That was essentially the full extent of the instruction—there was no deeper explanation of how to balance scents, how to layer notes effectively, or how to adjust blends if something didn’t smell right.
After this, the facilitator left our group of beginners to work independently for the remainder of the session. When we asked for guidance on combining fragrances, we were told to look things up on Google rather than receiving support from the instructor. The only resource provided was a laminated sheet describing the different oils, which wasn’t enough to confidently create a balanced scent—especially for beginners.
As a result, the experience felt more like self-directed trial and error rather than a structured workshop. None of us ended up liking the fragrances we created, and we didn’t take home a finished product.
What was especially disappointing was the follow-up. When we reached out to the listed contact number for the “teacher” (who was not present during the workshop), our concerns were met with pushback rather than support. Instead of listening to our experience, he argued with us about what had occurred, which felt dismissive and unprofessional.
I would not recommend this workshop it in its current format, especially for beginners looking for a true learning experience.”
“DO NOT ATTEND THIS WORKSHOP. ITS A RIPOFF. My friends and I booked this workshop thinking we would have an instructor guide us through perfume making but they just guided us to a small back room and left us there. It was a waste of time. We didn’t even take any perfumes we created because they smelled horrible since there was no one to guide us through it. Definitely not worth $89! Save your money or just buy yourself a perfume from an actual store. You will regret it!”
