“Used VinylGuard for a small bathroom project. I put a splash guard of self-adhesive tile along the top of my shower for protection & a little style. Given this isn't really 100% tile I was concerned with moisture seeping into the cracks which might eventually compromise the adhesion or worse yet, give a place for mold to grow. After a Google Search it was recommended to use a vinyl floor sealant rather than polyurethane. My project was so small I didn't need a full gallon so I ordered the trial size which was enough to cover everything.
So far, everything looks good and is preventing water penetration.
CoverTec was very responsive and kept me up to date on delivery.
It would be nice to have a size option somewhere between the trial size and gallon for those 'smaller' projects.
I expect everything to do well”
“I tried vinyl guard on two different sample pieces of luxury vinyl plank solid core flooring. It worked fine on the Timber Ridge flooring but on the Mohawk Flooring it just wanted to bead up. It must have something to do with the top coat from the factory.”
I'm sorry to hear that you encountered difficulties with the application of Vinyl Guard on the Mohawk Flooring sample. Various flooring products have different factory-applied protective layers, which can impact the application process. Correct surface preparation, such as scrubbing with a maroon (Scotch-Brite) pad, is crucial for successful application. We acknowledge the need for clearer instructions and improved communication on our part. We appreciate your feedback and will work to enhance our guidance for better application outcomes in the future. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
“Not the first time I’ve used it, so obviously I like it. It provides a thick shiny coating, much more durable than your regular polyurethane finish. First time I used it was for my kitchen floor. This time for some smaller areas that I wanted to protect: tiled molding around a bathroom sink, and a peel and stick kitchen backsplash.”
