“The extractor works fine and looks great. However the stainless steel boxing had to be trimmed by 240mm for the inner sleeve to slide open enough to gain access to the electrical connection and ducting. A phone call to the Smeg Technical line resulted in them blaming me for having the wrong height ceiling. It's 2.5m high. Cutting the ducting is potentially a nightmare but luckily I had a jigsaw blade that cuts metal so with a steady hand, a lot of masking tape around the boxing and a squared off pencil line drawn around the four sides I cut the stainless steel boxing and filed all the rough edges and it looks barely noticeable. I'm a tradesperson so managed ok in the end but I would be surprised if a DIY person would manage this without it looking horrendous. This why I give the extractor a poor score.”
