Slimline, flat hooks are robust. However, I do ponder on the carbon content. I do expect the G-Hooks to oxidize to form rust.
For my custom project, the G-Hooks are perfect. Saved me time in fabrication.
The G-Hooks are a niche product. If your intended purpose is to just have a quick affix solution to PALS webbing rows, than you are better off with just using ITW Nexus Ghillietex side release buckles with split bar latch, as this is more versatile. As I said, this G-Hook is a niche product; which may not necessarily improve your loadout.
I do not regret buying, as it is exactly what I needed for a custom ranger roll solution on rucksack. When it eventually oxidizes, I will buy again without hesitation. However, I will likely end up making a mould impression of the G-Hook and make some G10 or Micarta variants.
Would be great if ITW came out with a non metal version, that is stronger than acetate plastic whilst still having IRR property.
For what it is, for my personal requirements, I give the G-Hook 5 stars. I rather a rusty G-Hook than a shiny aluminium version, since the rust at least has reduced reflection.”
