Sadly I was very disappointed with this piece of meat. I’ve purchased many items previously and have never been disappointed so was rather surprised. I followed the instructions but sadly it was rather tough and ended up using the meat to make a curry as apposed to its original purpose. It’s not a piece of meat I’d buy again.

The meat was a great cut and turned out perfectly following the instructions. However, due to significant issues with Farmison before the Christmas period, we will not be ordering from them again.

Beautifully tender and evenly shaped joint for Christmas Day family celebrations. Fed the family for two days (plus some for the dog!) with zero waste. Strong value for money, we all thought.

This was a complete disappointment, the beef was tough veined with tough connecting tissue. A very very slow cook should have been advised. Only good as stewing steak.

Well where to start……at the end maybe where we had to casserole most of it. Ok cooked as per instructions for rare to med and meat thermometer was spot on as per Farmison instructions. Rested for 45 minutes. Carved and only one strip of it was edible. In fact the strip was so delicious. Rare and tender just perfect. The majority was not. The fat had rendered but chunks of chewy connective tissue ran through it. Sooo disappointing not just because this was a large and not a cheap piece but because I provided the joint for Christmas Lunch. I chef -well used to - so know I didn’t mess this up. It was so embarrassing. I buy my meat from Farmison because I trust it. This was terrible. Unlucky maybe but this ruined Christmas for 10. Luckily I had fillet steaks some from Farmison so cooked those along with the a goose I had cooked. Terrible and disappointing. I must add that my family have had a similar joint before and I cooked that and it was beautiful. This was awful just chunks of inedible connective tissue that ran right through.

THANK YOU FOR INVITING THIS REVIEW OF YOUR VERY DISAPPOINTING MEAT I ADVISE OTHER TO CONSULT REVIEWS ON TRUSTPILOT BEFORE BUYING. Feedback on recent purchase WEB2511291048QQMO5VG of 29 Nov 2025 Your 'Hero', 'Majestic', 'Premium' KING ARTHUR ROAST! For the attention of Jeff Baker also: Hello. My family and I (in Swanage, Poole and Reading) occasionally buy roasting joints from you for family get-togethers, and WERE usually pleased with the quality of the meat. However I think you have changed hands and this time we were very disappointed by your King Arthur Roast. We followed your instructions, removing the joint at 48C since we prefer fairly rare beef. After resting 40 minutes, and the temp rose to 52C, it was sliced and served. The outside 1/3 appeared well cooked, the inner 1/3 moderately firm and pink. Most Unfortunately it was all exceedingly TOUGH, very hard to cut, even changing (sharpened!) knives, each slice needed a mixture of cutting and 'tearing'. And each mouthful was extremely tedious and exhausting to chew soft enough to swallow, still uncomfortably ! The following day (today) I simmered the slices in meat stock. After 90 minutes it was scarcely less tough ! Scarcely less tough ! I had assumed your ribeye would be tender, and the chuck roll would be chosen to match it. I now realise that this joint, impressive though it looked, should have been BRAISED to make it edible, or in a state suitable for eating easily. I not only feel very sorry for the young family who cooked it (and who blame themselves), but feel aggrieved that I paid £80 for this disappointing experience. If I could, I would attach all the promoting descriptions and roasting method you suggest. But I would appreciate your response, and suggestion on how YOU might prepare such a joint for your family, and any suggestions how I might want to modify this for sending to Tripadvisor / TrustPilot other Review sites. Yours. Anthony Leathem Swanage. BH19 2FG
