My bike frame was quite battered, and I thought it would be an interesting project to try and re-spray it myself, as getting it re-sprayed professionally would be quite expensive. After some research I bought this paint, as well as the matching undercoat (Spray.Bike 48410 Putty 1 Bicycle-Specific Spray Paint - Smoothing Putty) and protective lacquer (Spray.Bike 48400 Varnish 1 Bicycle-Specific Spray Paint - Transparent Finish).I spent some time looking at youtube videos on how to get a good finished, and one thing that is definitely worth it is to do a thorough job in cleaning and preparing the frame before you start applying the paint. You need to be careful when applying the base coat, as it is easy to lay it on too thick. As the paint itself is self priming, it may be worth applying the base coat only in the areas where there are deep gouges or chips, using a thick filler coat, and then sand to get an even surface. For best results you should clean thoroughly after sanding. The undercoat can runs out quick, I just about managed to finish my frame before I run out of the 400mL can.Once the base coat is sanded and all thoroughly clean and dry, applying the colour coat is really easy. The spray pattern is good, and you get good coverage without excessive running, the idea is you apply successive light coats so that you get good coverage without runs. If you do get runs, then it is sanding to even the level, clean and re-spray if needed. The paint goes a long way, and I had probably a quarter of the 400 mL can left by the time I finished. Finally, use the protective lacquer to make sure the paint will not scratch off. As with the base coat, you need to be careful to apply lightly, as it is easy to get runs, which then you need to sand down and start again.Overall very happy with the result, which ended up looking better than I expected (now I need new wheels because the frame looks new!), only thing is, if you want a good finish, take your time.

Really easy to use. As long as you stay within the 5-12cm window when spraying, it doesn't run. The finish is a very nice looking matte with a fairly noticeable grain -- I quite liked this though. I have doubts about the durability of this paintjob, but it felt as though there was at least another bike's worth of paint left in the can, so there's plenty of room for making mistakes and/or touching up the paint in future. The website has a decent guide on how to use this spray paint -- I believe the technique for using it is slightly different to standard automotive paint, so it's worth having a quick look there before you start.I also recorded a video on Youtube documenting my spray job -- [...]All in all, I'm happy so far -- time will tell how durable it ends up being -- I'm going to buy some fluoro pink to try out on another frame in future!

I had a cove stiffee frame in matt silver which had taken some serious abuse over the years and was in desperate need of a spray job, after checking the prices for a professional job i realised that it would cost almost as much as the frame cost me to get it painted. I was contemplating sticker bombing the frame but stumbled across an article by mbuk about spray.bike, i have used automotive paints in the past for various bmx frames and they always looked terrible so was a bit aprehensive to purchase this. The paint comes out almost like a powder and doesnt seem to dribble or run like traditional spraypaint. It was very easy to apply and i can honestly say it looks like a factory spray job. The clear coat is a bit trickier but if you spray sparingly in multiple coats it comes up a treat. I am so happy with this paint and would recomend it to anybody looking to give there frame a new look without spending a fortune.

It is decent but, don't expect a factory finish. Importantly, it comes in two capacities not correctly mentioned in the title - so, please carefully read the description - it's more cost effective to buy the 400 ml.

Ok so matt black spray in a can. Keep your expectations low and you will be fine. Prepare surface carefully. Sand and prime first. Wait at least 20 mins between coats. Apply light misty coats. 3 or 4 minimum. The finish is not baby smooth it is textured but nice looking. May need a gentle sand between coats but i liked the finish so didnt sand. Essential to apply transparent varnish afterwards (2 or 3 coats).
