“I bought these plate and base pants recently, after wearing Smitty Poly-Spandex pants for several years. The material of these pants is similar, and seems like they will be light and breathable (it's still cool out, so tough to judge). I have not been happy with the fit of my Smitty pants, the crotch hangs really low and the base pants are too baggy for me (I'm pretty lean/athletic, 6'0" 180lbs). The fit on these pants are great. I had planned to have the base pants tapered a little when I got them altered, but there was no need, these look really good. I have worn 32" expander-waist pants for years and I like them a lot. The expander waist on these do not expand as much as Smitty, which is fine, but I would note that these 32" waist fits much tighter than my Smitty pants. A handful of “criticisms”… One, the material used on the inside of the pockets is stiff, hopefully it softens with wear. Two, the zipper appears high quality, but the opening is very small, and it makes it difficult to get your hand in and out when navigating around multiple layers. Three, there are two creases pressed into the front of one of my pair of pants, in one spot. Lastly, the description says that 32” pants come with 2 belt loops in the back (3 on larger sizes), but my 32” pants only have one loop in the back. Overall, happy with these pants. Hope this review helps you in your decision!”
