“I have taken a while to write a review as we had to work up to full brushing over two weeks. My 5yo daughter has autism and hair is one of our biggest battles, not just an ouch here and there but screaming, running, thrashing, punching, kicking and tears. My daughter has the most extreme reaction to hair brushing I have ever seen or could imagine. If you imagine a hair brush as a hot poker coming towards you then that is close to her reaction. She runs at only the sight of a brush and her hair had matted knots I had to physically cut out as even teasing the knots out was impossible. We had toyed with the idea of cutting her hair short but her hair is so beautiful it would break my heart. We had previously tried another brush that others ‘swear by’ which did help but certainly wasn’t a cure. My sister tagged me in your post and I was hesitant but also willing to try anything that could help this stressful and traumatic experience for us all. When the brushes arrived I was so excited to try them, I trialed them first on my hair and my 2yo’s hair and they glided smoothly through unbrushed hair. Next I decided to bite the bullet so I waited until my 5yo was in a happy mood and put her in the shower, shampooed and conditioned as best I could then ever so gently picked up a non-knotted wet piece of hair. She didn’t flinch, she didn’t even care . I then managed to brush the non knotted wet hair out in two attempts, over two hours, into sections with minimal effort (I didn’t even need to pin her down!) then we had a day off . I brushed it again the next day then spent another hour where I cut up into the matted knots with scissors. This was the big test to see how it would handle the matted hair... the happy hair brush worked through every knot without screaming or hitting! Now that it’s knot free SHE offers to brush her hair and LAUGHS when I chase her to make brushing a game. We now brush her hair daily instead of weekly (as that was all any of us could tolerate) You have changed our lives, this brush is the closest we have come to a miracle. Thank you happy hair brush”
