“After several years of intense advertising, Sodastream positioned itself as the most recognized brand in the the home carbonation sector.
Presently, it is all too easy for the average consumer to default to purchasing a Sodastream without making the effort to research other alternative products.
Prior to purchasing Drinkmate in March 2019, my only experience with home carbonation machines was with Sodastream, which was disappointing.
With Sodastream, you carbonate water, and add flavour afterwards.
If the flavour is not concentrated, it is diluted due to the volume of water.
The most readily available additives are soft drink flavours such as coca cola, root beer, etc, which typically contain artificial colours and/or flavours, and are high in sugar.
This is not the case with Drinkmate.
The machine is indisputably more versatile as it allows you to carbonate any clear liquid--not just water--including fruit juices and alcohol.
It is equally easy to use: add a clear liquid to the bottle, screw on the fizz infuser, attach to the machine, and carbonate.
Unlike some Sodastream models, Drinkmate allows you to carbonate the beverage as much or as little as you wish.
Since purchasing Drinkmate, I carbonated a wide range of fruit juices (apple, orange, grape, mango, pear, peach, guava, lychee, pineapple), wine (red, wine, rose), alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails, and even experimented with infusions (fresh grated ginger, mint, cucumber and more).
I am very pleased that I can create healthier carbonated beverages at home, and am not limited to only carbonated water, concentrated high-sugar and/or artificially flavoured and coloured additives, or diluted unconcentrated additives.
Drinkmate has augmented both everyday and entertaining beverages.
When I offer a family member or friend a beverage made with Drinkmate, there is always a direct comparison made to Sodastream; if the person knew about Drinkmate first, he or she never would have purchased Sodastream.
I am thankful I did my research prior to making a purchasing decision.
The greatest hurdle about committing to Drinkmate was the lack of exposure and experience with the product and company.
I believe if the product is more widely advertised, more aggressively demonstrated in retail outlets (i.e. Costco, Bed Bath and Beyond, department stores, etc), and more available to be experienced firsthand by the general public, the product will gain a greater following.
Thank you for creating such a versatile product; I look forward to many years of enjoyment.”
“When my bundle arrived, the 60L Co2 cannister was not in it as specified in my bundle. I called customer service and it was taken care of immediately. I really like the fact that the bubbles seem to be smaller than pre-bottled seltzer. So far so good. P.S. my cocktail turned out great!”
“Overall the product works great. Tasty soda and much less environmental impact than buying soda from the store. Only 2 things to note: 1. the starter canister of CO2 didn't make the promised 12L of soda. We'll see how long the full-size canister lasts. 2. You can't use anything with pulp. So you can't squeeze a lime or lemon into the bottle and then carbonate it. You need to use pulp-free juices or extracts.”
Thanks for the review, Avery!
-The starter canisters carbonate ~10L of co2, and it also depends on how carbonated you are making your drinks
-If you buy a small mesh strainer and/or a citrus squeezer, you can carbonate lemon and lime juice no problem!
