“I was skeptical opening a Plenny Bar pack and seeing the glistening chunk for the first time. It didn't look as crunchy and tasty as a Twenny (the chocolate I've loved so far) but alas! The texture is crunchy and soft, like cold but fresh baked, or like a cookie dough. The taste was sweeter than I expected, but not too sweet. My first thought was "I'm, never going to eat anything else again!" I might need to take that back but I'll be a happy man munching plennies every day.”
“I was super thrilled when I found out that there's going to be a vegan bar, so naturally I ordered some immediately when they became available. They arrived even earlier than promised when pre-ordering, so I got to sink my teeth in these delicacies even sooner than I thought I would. They were way more sticky on the surface than the old twenny bars, which made it a bit difficult to slide the bar out of it's packaging (I don't always eat a full bar at once so I want to keep the wrapper as intact as possible) but added a nice caramel feeling to the bar. I also liked the chewy consistency (I prefer bars over powders for the joy of chewing after all) and the slightly crunchy pieces inside the bar.
I had read the reviews and seen many people complaining that it's too salty or too sweet or tasting like raw cookie paste (though I can't see how that could be a bad thing), but I was happy with all that. My problem is that while there is a hint of salted caramel taste, the bars definitely mostly taste burnt. There's only one other review talking about burnt taste, whereas everyone else seems to find these very sweet, which makes me wonder if some batch could actually taste different from the rest of the bars? Despite the burnt taste, these are definitely not inedible, so I guess I'll get some information when I find out if the taste is present in all five boxes I ordered.
Despite this bar being less tasty than the old chocolate, vanilla and banana (oh, those were the days) bars, I am very much ready to compromise the taste for the ethical and ecological reasons, so this bar is definitely a good addition to the bar family. I hope you'll be moving to vegan bars with the other flavours too as soon as possible!”
“I like the idea of it being vegan and it gives you the choice between 3 flavours. Which is very nice. However, I find the the texture quite hard and less easy to chew on while having a quick bite.”
“The vanilla and chocolate plenny bars taste better than any other similar product. This new 2.0 tastes just as disappointing like many other products. Very dry and not enjoyable at all.
(Please never "optimize" the vanilla and chocolate bars)”
“Texture quality is great. The bars are soft with a bit of crunch. The chocolate flavor is slightly bitter, so dark chocolate lovers might like it a lot more than me. But i prefer the bars over the drinks, definitely.”
“The 1.0 plenny bar is VERY dry and has a texture that isn't very appealing (sticky). You need a LOT to drink to wash it down. The flavours are OK but it leaves a strange slightly metallic after-taste for me.
If you manage to eat the whole bar in one sitting it is indeed very filling.
I'm hoping the 2.0 bars are better!”
