“Giving 5 stars because the product itself is great.
In Canada UPS will charge a ridiculous amount of money to clear customs. They estimated $60 CAD on ~$220 worth of Jimmy Joy/Plenny shake (150 EUR) for their brokerage fee on top of duty/taxes fees. When I cleared the package myself (refusing to pay such a ridiculous brokerage fee), the customs clearance fee was only $28.88 CAD as I didn't have to pay duty on top of HST (local taxes).
Clearing the package myself with customs made this roughly equivalent to the well known American competitor in total cost, but the time investment and customs only being open M-F 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM ruined this. (I had to leave work early to get there)
A different shipping method that doesn't involve getting taken on a ride by the courier would be preferable.”
“While most aspects of Jimmy Joy/Plenny shake I enjoy: its convenience, its taste, its nutrition etc., the one thing that has been slightly annoying is the scoop. Scooping from the bags can be a bit difficult and messy, especially when the bag is nearly empty. It can also be difficult to make sure you use exactly 173g so using a scale might be better.
In general, however, Jimmy Joy/Plenny shake has been very satisfying and while it isn't as filling as some other foods in the short term, it provides me with energy for much longer than others.”
“It was my first time trying something like this, so I ordered a mixed and assorted pack. Everything came, I unboxed and checked the sachets. I decided to start with the strawberry one. First impression was oats flavour rather than strawberry, and as I drinked it just after mixing, it was a very liquid mix. The second time I tried, I let it stand a bit, and it was thicker, and maybe as I already tasted it previously, it had a touch of strawberry. I have not finished strawberry yet, but is more likely that I will buy again, as it does fill you up as a proper food, and is faster to do. I'm just having it when I feel lazy to cook, or I do not have enough time as sometimes my shift working pattern is awful.”
“I've used 'protein shakes' in the past, and that was preying on my mind when I ordered.
I ordered Vanilla and Banana options, thinking Vanilla would be.... neutral.
Unfortunately I started on Vanilla, and found it very reminiscent of protein shakes - a heavy flavour and particular smell that I think is the whey, so unavoidable... or so I thought.
The banana flavour is MUCH lighter, and even seems to dissolve better - although let's not pretend that it does a perfect job but shake happens.
I won't be ordering Vanilla again, but really like the banana and am keen to try other flavours - I'm looking forward to the morning version with caffeine!
The packaging is really elegant and surprisingly pleasing. I had no idea what to expect on that front, but they have done a very nice job on making it appealing. Unfortunately it's not hugely practical when you're trying to scoop out, particularly when the bag is running out. Consider buying a separate plastic tub of some sort for storage and you'll be happy and find the experience less clumsy when dispensing.
I'd like to see a different style of packet experimented with, but it's hasn't detracted from the product itself and so hasn't affected my rating.”
“I particularly liked the choice of preparations for vegetarians, vanilla and chocolate flavors are simple and tasty. I have not felt hungry for more than 6 hours. The doses are easy to use, it simply lacks the spoon to correctly dose the portions. I hope that you will extend your products with more flavors for vegetarians. I will order again.”
