Luffa (a.k.a. ridge gourd / Chinese okra / Si Gwah ) is a native of the Asian tropics. The fruit is low in saturated fat and cholesterol,high in dietary fibre, vitamin C, riboflavin, zinc, thiamin, iron, magnesium and manganese. Its taste and texture resembles that of zucchini, slightly sweet and becomes silky. You can scramble it with egg, stir-fry with meat, mushroom or fungi, or put in soup. It becomes the perfect bath sponge when dried!
