Purple Sweet Yam has an oblong shape with a thin outer skin that is red-brown, dark brown, or purple in colour. The inner flesh is vibrant purple. It has a somewhat dry and starchy texture that becomes creamy when cooked, and offers a mildly sweet taste with chestnut notes.
