I think we can easily solve your problem with a few adjustments to the handling.
Please make sure that you follow these points when changing diapers:
1. place the child on the top third of the diaper, not in the middle.
2. close the inner diaper loosely without pulling the Velcro on the wings.
3. turn the ruffles on the leg cuffs inwards. They act as a leakage barrier and improve the fit.
4. also close the overpants very loosely.
5. make sure that the cuffs of the overpants are not on top of those of the inner diaper, but further out. The overpants should completely enclose the inner diaper.
6. push the leg cuffs far up again towards the crotch.
