Heavy-Duty Tension Indicator Spring Reviews

Proper tension is critical for effective fence performance. The Heavy-Duty Tension Indicator Spring acts as a gauge to show you how much tension is on your wire.
Attach the Heavy-Duty Tension Indicator Spring to a ratchet-style strainer following our step-by-step video - Tension Spring Indicator Accessory Installation Guide.
Once attached, the strainer and spring will act as one unit. As you ratchet the cog of the strainer with a strainer handle, the spring body will compress under tension. As it compresses, it will reveal two indicator notches. The first indicator notch represents 150lb of tension and is the ideal setting for 14ga high tensile wire. As you continue to apply tension, the second notch will become visible indicating 250lbs of tension, which is the ideal setting for 12.5ga high tensile wire.
You may choose to install one tension spring per strand of wire, but typically having a tension spring on one of the strands at each strainer location is enough to help you gauge tension on the other strands.
Heavy-Duty Tension Indicator Springs allow for expansion and contraction in the wire, protect against over-tensioning, and provide additional shock absorption on shorter runs of fence.
These springs are made from 4ga high carbon steel with class 3 galvanized and a holding strength of over 2,200lbs making them the strongest and longest-lasting springs on the market!
Add a tension spring insulator (ICP1) for applications that require insulated terminations.
- Indicates wire tension
- Attaches to strap of ratchet-style strainers

These are really good, quality tension springs. I'm building 1/2 mile of 8 strand high tensile wire fence. The gentleman at my local farm supply (where I've purchased the majority of my supplies), tried to sell me an 'economy' spring. He said, "this is what everybody uses around here." Well, I went to that manufacturer's web site and discovered they were only zinc coated (not galvanized). I ordered these because I don't want to spend all this money on a good fence, and then use inferior springs! Not only did Kencove ship these quick, but the price was better then I've seen from other dealers! All 8 of my wires have these springs on them, and I am very pleased with their performance. Not only that, but installation was made easier by the fact that the springs have indicator notches to show how much psi to tighten (another quote from my farm supply guy; "everybody around here just tightens 'em until their snug").

I use the tensioner on the cardon, drip irrigation, and catch wires of my vineyard. I have short runs of 440', but the temperature ranges from 110 to -10. In the winter it might be 25 at night and 70 at 3:00 in the afternoon, there is no sag with the heavy duty springs.

I've used several of these springs and they all had a consistent good quality galvanizing and tension. Marking on the tugs allow you to gauge tension on the fence, other brands don't compare.

Just got them up and the wire is tight with some tension left in the spring. Looks like they will hold up well.
