“I was surprised by this Butter Pecan. You know those pecan deserts that have this type of gooey brown gel with pecan bits, it has some of that. i wasn't expecting that. It was rather refreshing in fact.
REcently I'd tried Simple Truth's Keto Butter Pecan, and I'd concluded 'This is THE BEST keto butter pecan hands down'. And I stick by that. Yet it's not better than Keto Pints and no I'm not contradicting myself. Let me explain.
The Kroger Simple Truth Buttter Pecan has this pecan flavor that is just perfect. The cream is right, the butter is this hint that mellows into the cream and the pecan... It surprised me. I mean, I thought rebel and enlightened had a solid butter pecan. I'd passed on the Simple Truth over and over, thinking 'pft' like that will be any good. I was wrong. It's good stuff.
Keto Pints Butter Pecan is playing a different game though. It's like a variation of butter pecan that doesn't try to the thing the Simple Truth Butter Pecan is awesome at. And I LOVE the Keto Pint Butter Pecan as a result because that means I have VARIETY. So Rebel and Englightened, no sense in buying their Butter Pecan in my view as the Kroger Version is so much better at things. But the Keto Pint version, it's perfect to eat alongside the Kroger version. it's like...have a SUPER DELUXE butter pecan that include two very well executed flavor profiles. Like having... two favorites at the same time.
That said I think the one thing Keto Pint could improve and Kroger got right is to make the pecans big. Kroger has them intact/whole. I think just having them in larger pieces would be 'enough'. But these small bits they just don't deliver much pecan flavor or meatiness. So imagine it Keto Pint, You have this big pecan chunk covered in the gooesy pecan gel and you bit into and the flavors explode intensely in the mouth and then you get this nice smooth cream with hints of butter and you get this cacophony of mixing these three components each with this umph that is good on it's own but occasionally more powerful when combined. You add Variety to the experience all in one dish. And that is why The Simple Truth Kroger Butter Pecan isn't better than Keto Pints - they are partners in my mind. collaborators on that experience of enjoying what butter pecan ice cream can be.”
