“This is long, but if you’re trying to find a natural long-lasting copper color and if you’re on the fence about henna, then this is for you:
So, my natural hair color has constantly changed from strawberry blonde to copper for the past decade. And about at least 2 years ago, my hair had started to grow in more copper again when it was strawberry blonde naturally and I decided to dye my hair all copper. I have curly hair type 2C/3A and my hair is low-medium porosity, and my hair texture is fine but I also have a lot of hair, and I’ve been following the curly girl method for about 15 years, so no products with silicones, sulfates, parabens, and other harmful ingredients. So it was a little difficult to find more natural dye without ammonia, sulfates, silicones, parabens, etc. I first started out using Adore Semi-Permanent Dye and Keracolor Clenditioner Color-Depositing Conditioner and alternated between the two. But that true vibrant copper color is very hard to maintain and I felt like I had to dye my hair every 4-6 weeks, 8 weeks was pushing it. Though these dyes are more natural, they still weren’t the best for my hair especially having to dye my hair so often, and my hair was falling out a lot more. So, I started looking for truly natural hair dye that lasted a long time and maintained that copper color. Khadi Beauty was the best according to all my research, but I was hesitant at first because in cosmetology school, they always steered us away from henna because once it’s done, it’s permanent and any other types of color can’t be dyed on top of it unless it’s also henna. But I read one review from a woman who also said the exact same thing about how her and mother were always steered away from it as hairdressers, but she posted photos and wrote a long, detailed and great review. So I made the decision to try it myself, and it was the best thing I’ve probably ever done to my hair, truly. Although the process of mixing the henna and getting it to the exact temperature can be pretty tedious, it is absolutely worth the results and length of time before having to color your hair again. This copper henna is the best dye to get that very naturally looking, shiny, and vibrant copper color, and the best part is: IT LASTS FOR MONTHS. When I first bought from Khadi Beauty, I bought a couple boxes of copper henna and the Color Care Ayurdevic Hair Oil. In the boxes they gave a free sample of the Color Finish After Color Conditioner which was a really good amount to use on all my curly hair 1-2 times. After noticing the results when using the After Color Conditioner, I then bought a full size and I always use it when rinsing the henna out of my hair. I definitely recommend using either their Before Color Deep Cleanse Clarifying Shampoo or Deep Charcoal Cleanse Mask or another really good clarifying and/or chelating shampoo before each time you color your hair. And I definitely highly recommend using their After Color Conditioner and the Color Care Oil because it truly does bring out the color more and make it long lasting. The Oil is especially good for when you feel your color is not as vibrant or dull, then you apply a good amount of the oil to saturate your hair and massage it into your scalp and leave for at least one hour or even overnight, then wash and style your hair as usual and it will immediately revive the henna pigments in your hair and it makes it look like you just dyed it again, and this also lengthens the time in between coloring. I’d say I go typically 3-5 months without having to color my hair again, and I could go longer but I like to maintain a certain shade. And 3-5 months is a crazy improvement from my previous 4-6 weeks. And one thing I like about this henna is it fades slightly which makes your roots blend in naturally to the color over time. It says to use one box for about shoulder length hair but even when my hair was down my mid-back, one box was still more than enough and I have a lot of hair. But for your first time, it’s always good to buy two boxes to make sure you have enough. When I first bought, I added a bundle deal where I bought a bundle of one henna color box with the After Color Oil and I got another box of the shade of my choosing for free. And they give 15% off your first order. And even though it may seem pricey to some, you’re actually saving a lot of money of constantly having to purchase other hair color to maintain the color and saving money you spend coloring your hair at a salon. And the oil, conditioner and shampoo last a very long time. What I really love is how much healthier my hair is. Henna has many benefits and has been used in many cultures and religions for hair, skin and medicinal benefits. And the other natural ingredients in the henna shades are very good for hair and the different natural ingredients mixed with the henna is what results in different shades and pigments. There’s a lot of companies out there that say they sell true organic henna, but not all henna is equal. A lot of brands actually sell fake henna which is chemicals either mixed with a little henna or no actual henna at all. And there’s also a lot of companies that sell low quality henna and henna they don’t test for heavy metals, pesticides, etc., which obviously you don’t want to be putting on your scalp and hair. I’ve done a lot of research and Khadi Beauty is one of the very best companies that sells legit high quality 100% organic natural henna hair color. Their products are vegan, contain no synthetic dyes or preservatives and every batch is tested for microbiology, heavy metals and pesticides, and I haven’t seen any other henna hair coloring company do this. And all their formulas are 100% plant-based. Even the few other natural henna hair coloring companies have sketchy looking websites, very few reviews and/or no proof of the claims they make. And if you think you want to try another henna brand because it’s a lot cheaper, well for starters that’s a red flag because true high quality organic henna is not much cheaper, so if you see any for especially $15 and below for 100g of henna hair color powder, then you already can assume it’s most likely not high quality 100% organic henna, and this is the “henna” products that give people those crazy allergic reactions, blisters, burns, etc. And for henna hair coloring, a lot of companies online will often use a base of henna powder (or henna and other herbs) laced with some sort of chemical hair color, such as metallic salts or PPD, and the worst part is they will leave out a full ingredients list. So seriously be careful where you’re getting henna from. I’m Muslim, and we use henna for many things and occasions. And we know from experience of using legit 100% organic high-quality henna versus using henna with chemicals, low quality henna or just straight up fake/imitation henna. And to give a pricing reference on the cost of true quality henna; I bought 100% organic natural henna ready-to-use cones for my wedding, I paid about $30 for 5 cones which is typical for 100% organic high-quality henna in my area.
And another good thing about Khadi henna is that you can dye various shades over other shades, so it’s not like you’re always stuck with one color, if you feel like changing it up later.”
“Extremely comforting to know that I didn't use harmful chemicals on my hair that were just definitely determined to cause cancer & other harm. People will be using it more natural dyes, & hair salons should jump on board. The only downside is that is a lengthy process & it does smell for a bit. I'll take the trade-off to protect my health.”

“I got the copper color. I love the way it makes my hair look and feel. I have microlocs and I’ve been using chemical dyes but wanted to try a natural hair dye. I found this brand online and decided to try it. I used it a couple days ago and I could see a difference already. The color came out really nice although I wanted a little lighter but I can live with the color I got. It makes my hair feel so soft. The color care oil made the color pop a little more and my locs are nice and shiny. I don’t have to use anything else on my hair but water in the morning. Definitely will buy again. I also plan on getting the strong Amla oil as well.”
Hi there,
Our Copper shade is gorgeous!
If the color is too dark, mix 1-2 tablespoons of our Senna/ Cassia (color-free) into your mixture. It will help make the color more translucent and not as rich in pigment.
