Maca, is an adaptogenic root vegetable which is native of Peru. It is often referred to as "Peruvian ginseng“, and used for centuries for its supposed health benefits. Maca root is typically available in powdered form, and it has a mild, earthy taste. This Organic Black Maca Powder is sourced exclusively from the biodiverse high-altitude regions of Peru. Grown in nutrient-rich soil and cultivated using sustainable practices... all of which is nice to know and reassuring. It is high in vitamin C, vitamin B6, Iron, Calcium, Riboflavin and Potassium. It is a blend of red, yellow purple and black. Maca is known for its potential to improve energy, mood and libido, help with hormone balance, particularly in women during menopause. Personally, I am most interested in improving my energy levels. This organic Maca comes in a dark glass bottle with screw top lid. All can be recycled. The powder is dark and very fine and has a mildly nutty flavour. It can be added to smoothies, shakes, or mixed into other foods. It is suggested to add around one teaspoon to yogurt etc and this is what I did on my breakfast. It gives plain yogurt a coffee/chocolate taste which I liked. I think this pot will last me around one month, I do not use it every day, but only when I feel like a boost. It mixes well as it is very fine. I have used this brand before and their products are always very good quality. Using organic produce whenever possible is very important to me and this product ticks all the boxes. The price is great value for the quality of this product. I have been taking it most days for last week and I feel like my energy levels are good.

I’ve previously used capsules to get my daily Maca Root but decided to get the powder this time around to see what I could mix it with. The bottle arrived with the internal seal intact and an expiry date two years into the future. The powder smells a bit like compost. Nothing too unpleasant, just an odd smell for something advertised as being suitable for smoothies. Mixed into water with only unflavoured supplements (see picture) this was quite unpleasant. It had a savoury, almost meaty taste. I’m guessing this is what vegan gravy would taste like. I’ve since added it to several smoothies, each with strong sweet flavours (lemon, chocolate and Mango) and on every occasion the taste of this powder came through and made them far less pleasant. It doesn’t go into my smoothies any more.I’ve found I can mix it into strong tasting yoghurt and can also sprinkle it onto my breakfast cereal and I can’t taste it. That is how I’m consuming it from this point on. On the days I skip breakfast I’m reverting to the capsules. This powder may not be for everyone.

I discovered this brand last year, and already have quite a few of their products, so was very keen to try this maca powder. Kiki Health is an independent, British-based, ethical company, and this product is organic, with no additives, preservatives, or artificial substances. I also like the packaging - a glass jar with a screw top metal lid, so fully recyclable.I find that most of my Kiki Health supplements are great to add to my morning porridge. I ring the changes all the time by making porridge with different seeds and dried fruits, so tried adding a teaspoon of this maca powder to an apricot and sunflower seed porridge. I'd not tried maca before, but was pleasantly surprised by its mildly nutty flavour - it reminded me a bit of raw sesame seeds. The powder has a fine texture too, so it will blend in well with all sorts of sweet and savoury dishes.

All opinions are my own.I already regularly purchase maca powder, based on what I've heard about its health benefits, so I thought I would try this brand. When I unscrewed the lid, powder was already escaping, even before removing the security seal. More escaped after removing the seal, so be careful on opening. It looks and smells the same as my usual brand, so I did my usual method of adding one teaspoon when preparing my porridge overnight. With so many other flavours, I am unable to taste it individually, but that suits me just fine. However at £8.05 for 100g, that is over double what I pay for my usual brand which is not organic. Not sure whether organic status justifies being more than twice the price .Long dated March 2027.

I've heard a lot of good reports about Maca for hormonal balance. This seems to be a nice raw product, and I've been sprinkling into my smoothies. Tastes great and adds body too!

This maca powder is a blend of all four maca root varieties, each offering slightly different benefits, so I really appreciate being able to enjoy them all in one product. The quality is excellent, and there are no unnecessary additives—just pure maca, exactly how I like my supplements.
