Shiitake is a type of edible mushroom that is native to East Asia. They can be eaten fresh or dried. Dried Shiitakes have a more concentrated flavour, making them a great addition to soups and sauces etc. Shiitake has health benefits, such as boosting the immune system and promoting heart health. I was keen to try out its health benefits. This powder is created exclusively from the fruiting bodies of organic Shiitake mushrooms and standardised to 30% Beta-Glucan-Rich Polysaccharides. The manufacturer claims the 100% pure extract undergoes rigorous standardisation to ensure the highest concentration of Beta-Glucan Rich Polysaccharides for maximum effectiveness to support heart and energy levels, all of which is reassuring. It is free from fillers, additives, and animal-derived ingredients, all features which I especially look for in a product such as this. The powder arrives in a dark glass bottle with a screw top lid and is sealed. The powder is very fine had has an intense rich flavour; it can be likened to the taste of concentrated yeast extract. It is suggested to add around 1g (half a teaspoon) to a smoothie or porridge etc. I added it to my oats and I did not like the taste.... so this way of consuming it is not for me, but instead added to a savoury dish, it adds depth and flavour. I made a mushroom soup from supermarket white mushrooms and a little of this powder transformed the soup into something rich and pleasant. So, in future, I will be using it in my soups and savoury dishes. A little goes a long way, so I imagine this pot will last me a long time, especially as it has a good shelf life until 2027.... so plenty of time to use it. It is difficult to tell if I feel any health benefit as I have only been using this for around two weeks. However, I feel more relaxed, so maybe it is down to this supplement. It is good value, because it is organic and has great quality.

I sprinkle this into my daily smoothie which I blend in my nutribullet so using a powdered form of mushrooms for me is nice and convenient as I am already making the smoothie. If you stick to their recommended 1g serving then this will last you for 50 servings. Not bad value for money and I appreciate the fact that it clearly marked as being suitable for vegetarians and vegans

If you’re into natural health supplements, this shiitake mushroom powder is a great addition to your routine. Packed with beta-glucans, it’s designed to support immunity, gut health, and even help with cholesterol. The fact that it’s organic and plant-based makes it even better. The powder itself is fine and mixes well into smoothies, soups, or even a morning coffee (if you don’t mind the earthy flavour). It has that strong mushroomy taste, so it might not be for everyone, but it blends nicely when mixed with other ingredients. A little goes a long way, and the 50g pack should last a decent while.Pros: Organic with high beta-glucan content. Supports immune, gut, and bone health. Easy to mix into drinks or food. No fillers—just pure shiitake extract. Cons: Strong earthy taste—not for everyone. A slightly bigger pack would be great for regular usersIf you’re looking for a natural way to give your immune system a boost, this is a solid choice. Just be ready for that mushroomy kick!

I discovered this brand last year, and already have quite a few of their products, so was very keen to try this organic shitake mushroom extract - which as superfoods go, seems to have an incredible number of health benefits. Kiki Health is an independent, British-based, ethical company, and this product is organic, with no preservatives, artificial colours, sweeteners or fillers. I also like the packaging - a glass jar with a screw top metal lid, so fully recyclable.I would never have thought of adding shitake mushrooms to porridge, but not only is this suggested in the listing, but there's a photo too! I ring the changes all the time by adding different seeds and dried fruits to my morning porridge - and in recent times, I have also had a row of jars of Kiki Health powders to choose from. I added half a teaspoon of this powder to an apricot and sunflower seed porridge - and it was absolutely delicious. I could definitely taste shitake mushrooms - which I love - but they didn't taste at all out of place in what was quite a sweetish porridge. However, I'm also looking forward to experimenting with this powder in some savoury dishes. Kiki Health supplements are always rather expensive, and this one particularly so, as the bottle is small, with the 50g of powder only coming about two-thirds of the way up the bottle. However, as you only use half a teaspoon at a time, it will probably last quite well - given that I have quite a selection of Kiki Health supplements to choose from now!

Another good KIKI health product, I am so lucky to have been able to try various of their products. They are always well produced, and contain organically sourced ingredients, I have been using mushrooms for a long time now so this is great to now have a Shiitake powder to add to my smoothies, I have many products with Shiitake in it, but this is just a plain Shiitake powder. These a really great step into functional mushrooms for new people, or a great addition for those already taking them

I have just checked the organic certification for this shiitake mushroom powder from Kiki health and discovered that shiitake is spelt with two ‘i’s. I didn’t know that before! The certification is all good and Kiki is a brand which I have tried many times before, so that is all very reassuring. The powder tastes pleasant, nicely savoury, and will go well in many dishes. Personally, I intend to try it with my hot chocolate. It comes as a light brown powder in a 4 inch high (modestly sized) well-sealed glass jar. The best before date is January 2027, nearly 2 years ahead.

This Organic Shiitake Extract Mushroom Powder is packed with all the goodness you'd expect from a high-quality adaptogenic mushroom. Known for supporting immune health, heart function, and gut balance, it’s a great addition to my routine. I’m already a fan of Lion's Mane, Chaga, and Cordyceps, so I was excited to try Shiitake.Taste-wise, it’s earthy with a mild umami note. I usually mix a few mushroom powders into a glass of cold water, and to make it more enjoyable, I add a teaspoon of cocoa powder for a chocolaty kick. What I really appreciate is that this supplement is pure, with no additives—just the good stuff. It’s clearly a high-quality product, and I’d happily recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, effective supplement.
