“The kiln-dried wood produced by Kindwood is excellent - it catches quickly and with minimal effort expended in preparing kindling, burning hot and with little smoke. They have also selected hardwoods that burn for a good long time, unlike many other kiln-dried products that are predominantly birch and burn up to nothing very fast (and over-hot). This makes a big difference in terms of the comfort of having a fire that you need not tend every few minutes, and the contents of a crate last longer than the equivalent weight of inferior firewood, too. The crates are recycled and must be anticipated as such. Of the three I've had, two were in good condition and useable as storage, but the third had several loose staves and fell apart when I lifted it (firewood narrowly missing my foot!) As we intended to use these for storage, I spent a few minutes removing loose nails and gluing up cracked boards, before gluing and re-nailing the crate back together. If you aren't interested in the crates, then I recommend Kindwood's hessian sacks, which are about half a crate's-worth each but normally a little less than half the price for the same excellent firewood in an eco-friendly package,”
