“The litter mat was a free gift, so I am ignoring whether it was a good fit for my household in the star rating.
It's an excellent matt for finely grained litters, but it does have a few drawbacks. The finely woven strands are good for capturing the litter initially and reducing tracking; however, that same property makes it very hard to get what's captured to fully release from the mat. Vacuuming with a beater brush and multiple passes still leaves litter deep within the mat that will fall out in small, seemingly endless quantities if you lift the matt and shake it. This will be a problem for anyone with compulsive perfectionism should they move the matt to vacuum the floor underneath, as some will spill out both when removed and returned to the spot.
It does little to capture large log-shaped litters within the weave, but they do vacuum up more reliably.
The place where this mat falls down is if your cat has diarrhea on it. It's practically impossible to remove all the waste without fully washing the matt with soap and high pressure running water, which itself causes the fecal waste to splatter and turns any trapped litter into adherent sludge if it's a clumping variety. If washed in a tub or outside, you can manage, but it's definitely not something you want to be doing regularly. One of my cats has IBD and had several accidents in close succession on it, leading me to just throw it out.”

You’re right—the fine weave helps with initial capture but can make releasing contents tricky, especially after diarrhea or with clumping litter. For large litter pellets, it’s also not ideal. Some users find that gentle tapping and external shaking helps release what’s trapped, and using a vacuum with a hard floor setting or a beater brush can reduce buildup over time. If you plan to rotate the mat for cleaning, a quick rinse and thorough drying can help prevent residue from sticking.

“I like it because the little pieces don't get inside of another mat that I have. It keeps it real clean because their food is not too far from their box. The litter box is awesome and I have never seen a cat and I'm 60 years old. I never seen a cat fall asleep on their back in a litter box. My goofy cat her name is Gypsy. You've made it so easy on me and I am disabled so this is a big deal for me thank”
