“Our litter box is in our basement. We’ve tried the clay & clumping litters, but they would absorb so much moisture from the air the box wouldn’t last a week. This litter has allowed us to go the full month without having to dump the box. It is also the first litter our barn cat uses! He used to pee in the box, but leave waste next to the box. Now he uses the box for both, which is great while he’s inside for the winter.”
“I've tried the large and fine grain silica litters. The large grain seems to last slightly longer when it comes to odor control, but they look/feel like shards of glass - Not comfortable to accidentally step on when tracked outside of the box, so I can't imagine they're comfy for my kitty to step on either. The fine grain is super soft, but definitely loses its odor control power at the 2 week mark. FTR, I followed maintenance recs to a tee and my kitty only pees 1-2x/day. I will keep using the fine-grain litter thanks to KittyKoin discounts, otherwise, I would have to go back to store-bought clay litter due to cost.”
“We both love the fine grain. I did the large and fine and both cats migrated to the fine. I definitely recommend the litter box hood and/or mat, as this does fling from kitty paws. It's a little dusty when scooping, but for the lack of smell. I'll deal!”
“This stuff is fantastic and the kitties love it. My only complaint is the fine grain is a little smellier than the large silica and produces so much dust when cleaning. I opted into wearing a face mask while cleaning it which helps a little but as an asthmatic I can still tell the particles get through to my lungs. I would recommend choosing large silica over the fine grain if this is an issue.”
