As long as you keep up with it, there is absolutely no odor at all and there is far less mess outside the box. I also like that I can determine when it needs to be changed as the color begins to change. I will never use anything else ever again. “The silica litter is so much better than clay litter because it is cleaner and less smelly. I could use more then I do but I cannot afford to buy more than I do. My only wish is that you would get more for your money. Even though stirring reduces the smell, my cat will go out of the box unless I change it within 5 days. I'm already beyond my budget and cannot afford to buy more so it leaves me having to clean up a mess a couple times a week.”
