“Unfortunately, I’ve stuck to using this type of litter, because when I tried to use the silica, one of my cats could not ever transition to it. This litter, the diatomite litter, is tracked very easily, and does not absorb odors very much there is also noticeable dust with it. I’m working on combining the silica with this litter and hoping ultimately my cat will be able to transition. Previously, when I tried the silica alone, she started urinating on the rug.”
“Our 14-pound cat must have an unusually large bladder! I meticulously sift the clumps to minimize the loss of uncontaminated litter. Two weeks of usage left about 3/4" remaining in the litter box. Three weeks and it was down to less than one-half inch, insufficient to control the urine. Box and "inverted cover" leaked discharge on to floor. I bought two kits. Rather than discard the unused item, I tried again. It lasted just over ten days before it became obvious the problem was going to repeat itself. Convenient? Yes. Messy? Yes. Effective? No. A bit costly but a fair price if it worked as advertised. Litter is light weight and very prone to tracking throughout the area where the box is located.”
“I will admit that I ordered this more as an experiment to see whether I'd personally like it and of my cats would use it. Now I can't imagine ever going back to traditional litter and boxes! It is so much easier to clean, has zero smell, and I love that I don't have to do the heavy lifting. Since using it, our cats have had zero accidents outside their boxes and the litter isn't getting tracked around the basement anymore. (Can't say whether they personally prefer it because they are cats, but they seem happy... For cats that is). On a side note, my kids loved the extra box lids we got in our first order. They thoroughly enjoyed coloring in the kitty poo club logo and turning it into art.”
“I have two cats and always get 2 disposable boxes. I thought I'd try the diatomite litter to determine if it worked better than silicone, which was too dusty. After only a couple weeks, I will not be getting diatomite anymore. It tracks everywhere and is hard to clean up, and it doesn't last-- after a week the litter needs to be changed already. Either my cats pee a lot or this litter doesn't absorb enough. Silicone dust is easier to deal with than this stuff.”
“Just as good as silica, if not better - only drawback is you can actually see the litter scattered on the floor. Silica was there, just not as unsightly.”
