“cuts down on all the bits of sand litter that you would find all over the house. As long as you change it completely out every month, it is very nice”
“I love the new silica litter due to its non- tracking capability. Even though it’s not 100% track-free, the litter that my cat scatters outside the box are large pieces, not the fine litter that tracks all over the place. It’s easy to pick up and much less work than the finer type. There are a few negative points with the new silica litter, though. The main problem is that urine does not seem to evaporate nearly as well as with the finer litter. The urine is very visible in the grains, even long after the box has been used; and after just a week or two with this litter, I’m seeing urine leakage all the way through the bottom of the box — not on the sides, but leaking through the middle of the bottom of the box. It’s very obvious the evaporating capability of the finer litter is not available with these thicker grains. I never had this issue with the finer grains. The second problem is that the larger grains appear to be uncomfortable for some cats. Mine uses the box - obviously, since it’s leaking - but she’s not covering up her waste. She does her business and then runs off, like she can’t wait to get away from it. She never left her waste visible like this before. There definitely are improvements needed, but I prefer this litter right now because of the minimized tracking and cleanup time. Hopefully my cat will adjust to the feel of the litter in time, and hopefully KittyPoo will reinforce the box better so the leakage no longer occurs.”
