“I ordered this Argon One V5 NVMe case together with my new 16GB Raspi 5 as an upgrade to my existing 8GB Raspi 5 in an Argon Neo5 case with a NVMe expansion board. Assembly was easy with one exception: initially the Pi did not power up because the USB power connector between the Pi and the extension board was not fully engaged. After reseating (which needed some force), the machine booted perfectly from the NVMe card that I had prepared with the Raspi imager on a PC. No adjustment of boot order necessary. To enable the two additional USBs and audio, you really need to run the argon1v5.sh script as described in the booklet. Just editing /boot/firmware/config.txt is not enough. This script also downloaded some software components and a firmware upgrade.
Under full load (4 threads double precision floating point solver), the 16GB Pi in this Argon V5 One case runs about 5°C cooler than the 8GB Pi in the Argon Neo5/NVMe. This may not be entirely due to the more efficient cooling, because the 16GB Pi also appears to consume approx. 20% less power.
This case is not cheap, but very solid and worth the money if you want to use the Pi as a small desktop computer.”
