“I received the ballast very promptly after ordering. I phoned first to establish its dimensions (not on the website) and that it would fit inside the existing batten. The ballast being shorter than the original I had to create a new mounting point. Connecting was a little more challenging. The terminals are a combination push fit/IDC and differ slightly at each end. I realised that the push fit option is suitable only for solid conductors. The cables in my fitting are stranded flex which must use the IDC option, requiring an appropriate tool. I adapted a cheap plastic BT-type IDC tool, specially purchased from B&Q, which was not quite the right size but eventually worked. Once installed the ballast worked first time, but perhaps offering a suitable (cheap) IDC tool as an optional accessory would be helpful.”
