“I took this headlamp on a 4-week conservation expedition to Madagascar, where I used it every day on night surveys (i.e. eyeshine spotting of lemurs, invertebrates, crocodiles and for surveying other herpetofauna) and after sunset for general use. In terms of brightness, it is brilliant - and the ability to focus the beam is very useful. I was able to see wildlife clearly from a distance. The head strap is easily adjustable and comfortable, and the ability to direct the beam higher or lower without moving your head is also invaluable. My only criticism would be that the battery life is not long. I only had access to power for a maximum of a few hours a day, and it takes a long time to charge fully on a generator. Even at full charge, the battery sometimes did not last the length of a night survey, which were between 3-5 hours. Of course, this may not be a problem if you are not planning on using the headlamp for wildlife surveys or for an extended amount of time, but it is something worth considering if you are! Overall though, these were worth the money and I shall continue to use them on expeditions.”
