“Being relatively new to woodworking I decided to spend for a quality planer and this Veritas planer has been magnificent. From the moment you pick this up you can tell the fine quality build. The blades (I bought three different angles) are very high quality and sharp. It takes a few tries to understand how to adjust but once I figured that out this works beautifully. I highly recommend this Veritas Low-Angle Jack Planer.”

“When a person buys a Lee Valley / Veritas plane it isn't just a purchases, it's like owning a peice of woodworking history. Few if any plane makers in the world today can begin to approach the quality and design asthetics of a Lee Valley / Veritas plane. There is a constant renewal and refresh of the plane design. This plane will serve generations of woodworkers. The Veritas Bevel-Up Jack Plane is a joy to use. If a woodworker could only own one plane, the improved Veritas Bevel-Up Jack Plane would be my recommendation. From experience, by increasing the angle of the plane iron it is possible to eliminate tearout from highly figured grain. 35° - 40° suffices to handle difficult grain and 50° manages the most troublesome grain; this option simply isn't possible with a standard bench plane. Adding the Lee Valley Technical Fence allows accurate jointing with the Veritas Bevel-Up Jack Plane. The toe is long aiding control and alignment while planing. Iron adjustment is positive with minimal backlash. I would say, the Veritas Bevel-Up Jack Plane coupled with the PM-11 plane iron comes close to being the perfect plane.”

“This is my first "larger" plane and it is really a great piece of kit. I hesitated for a while trying to decide which plane to get and finally decided on this one and it has been extremely usefull for the woodworking projects I do. I will say I am surprised that it did develop some light surface rust on the sides of the plane even with using some paste wax, but I am in north Florida where it is very hot and humid in summer months, so I cleaned it as best as I could and now keep it in a weather sealed tool box with a damp rid type of moisture absorption pack to try minimizing the risk moving forward. I want this thing to last for as long as me and it shoulod if I can keep this humidity away from it while in storage.!”

“I made the transition to this plane after relying on a Staney Bedrock 605-1/2 that I picked up a couple of years ago. I love the versatility of this plane with the different angled blades that are available and the adjustable mouth (with the enclosed toe, now). I work on smaller pieces primarily, so this suffices as my jointer plane as well, but I can adjust it down and it leaves behing a finish meaning I don't need my smothing plane. It truly is a workhorse in the shop and I am loving it.”
