These chisels arrive sharp and ready to use. The backs are perfectly flat so no need for further honing unlike many other manufacturer offerings. The balance is great and the treated maple handles feel great in the hand. The edges are ground to a fine point so if you like to hold the blade while using you might want to run a fine file to dull them a bit or you could get cut if holding too tight. I like this feature as they work great for cleaning up dovetails in angled and tight spaces where the fine side edges can work well for maximum reach. The PMV-11 sharpens easily and the edges are long lasting. Wish I discovered these sooner before I purchased less desirable tools as these have become my every task chisel for daily working and the others just sit in a drawer.

I have upgraded all of my bench chisels to these Veritas PM-V11 chisels. They're expensive, but worth it if you want a reliable, quality tool.

I started with a complete set of chisels for 110$ from Amazon but I kept hearing what a difference a good set of chisels makes. With that being said 100$ for 1 chisels seemed like a lot but I couldn't be happier I went for it. These chisels hold an edge for significantly longer, feel better in the hand, and look beautiful. Now I'm slowly working on getting a set.

Polished it up to a razor sharp edge in no time starting with my finest grit. Back was aleady very flat, then just a few passes on the bevel to create a micro bevel. Stropped & shaved a bit of hair. Can't wait to put it thru its paces soon with dovetails in both pine and oak.

Beautifully made and a pleasure to use, sharp and feel good in hand. They are expensive which is why I have been purchasing one at a time every few months.
