“works great on light wood with no knots. use it as it is shipped. DO NOT ADJUST BLADE. it works fine right from factory .... if you do adjust or replace blade make sure you don't drop the set screws and spacers that you don't know are there until you drop and lose them. SHOULD BE A NOTICE THAT THERE ARE SPACERS. Lee Valley replaced the 2 i lost no charge but i would not have lost them if they had been on the diagram of plane or mentioned in instructions.”

“I purchased the spill Plane to make spills for a historical village museum that I work at. We did not have an antique one in our collection. By purchasing a replica one from Lee Valley we now have spills in containers beside the fireplaces in our historic houses. It was a bit fiddley to set up to get the tight spiral but once set it works as it should.”
