“This is the 2nd set of these we have purchased. The first set is still in use after two years. We used 5/4" thick red treated deck boards and cut little grooves at 1" from the end to fit into the brackets. This wouldn't be necessary if you used 1 x 6 wood as recommended. Howeber it does help when you're assembling the frame as the grooves keep the brackets relatively in place. Painted steel screws are included and work nicely. We put some square wire mesh over the top of our compost bins to keep things from being carried away by wild diners. (Also to keep compostable green bin bags from blowing away). While the brackets are somewhat expensive, they work well, and the second assembly, two years after the first, went much more quickly as the instructions seemed to make more sense the second time around.”
