Thank you for your feedback. It is made of galvanized steel springs. Although galvanized steel is quite robust, it will rust with extended exposure to water/moisture. The brush can be placed in the dishwasher for cleaning. If you do this, removing as soon as the wash cycle is done and allowing the brush to dry will help to extend the life of the tool. Keeping the brush indoors when not barbequing will also help to prevent rust. Hope this helps!

“Works well and has a long handle so you can use it when the grill is hot. Doesn't get into spaces between the grates very far.”
