“A very clever way to remove the corn kernels from the cob. Does a quick, clean job. We did 8 doz. ears of corn to freeze and it was faster and a lot less messy than just using a kitchen knife. However, in short order it gets slippery and requires extra effort the hold the cutter with your off hand. I improved this situation by wearing the kind of work gloves that are of knit construction and have been dipped in a rubberized material to make them slip-proof (available at Harbor Freight and many hardware or automotive stores.) Great for opening stubborn jar lids, as well. There doesn’t seem to be a way to sharpen or replace the cutter, without replacing the entire unit. The cutter does seem to hold an edge well. We did 8 doz. ears with no apparent degradation to the blade sharpness.”
