“Latches itself are working well. (2) Seem sturdy and close well at this time. My wooden gates measure about 6 feet tall and I had to temporarily rig up a string pulley system to open from the inside. This is the reason for a generous 3 stars. Would have been perfection if a gate latch opener wire WAS INCLUDED. And yes I have seen your option, quite simply I've invested enough cash in the latches and can't justify paying even more for your openers. I'm disappointed in purchase for this reason.”

We understand your point about having to come up with your own solution for opening a taller gate from the inside. The gate latch opener is offered separately since not every installation requires one, but we appreciate you sharing your perspective on having it included with the latch.

“I ordered four gate latch assemblies and, after they had arrived, I opened only one to evaluate it's operation/design. I was skeptical that it would work but proceeded with installing one anyway. It worked so well I proceeded to install the other 3. These are installed on aluminum fence gates (posts) in Texas which tend to move a lot when the clay substrate drys out in the summer and then moves again after periods of rain. My only concern is the lifespan of the spring which supports the piece that slides. Without that spring the assembly doesn't function as designed. The spring will eventually fail and I don't see that I can order replacement springs. If Lee Valley offered replacement springs then it would be a 5-star product.”
