Commando Raider, 46 mm, Outdoor Adventure - 3321 Reviews

I really like this watch. It is easy to read and just feels like a good quality made piece of equipment. I would like a different band only because that is what I'm used to. Still haven't figured out what the red arrow is for.

Watch stopped working within days. This is not the first Luminox I have had that has stopped. Quality has gone way down.

Pros:The watchface is great. It screams attention to detail. Its easy to read and the SGT chevrons on the seconds hand is a nice touch. I like the countdown timer instead of the typical dive countup timer. The band is extremely comfortable combined with the watch being lightweight it almost disappears on your hand. It has become a conversation starter in most places I go to. Cons: Priced way to high for what you are getting or not getting. The reason why people go to Luminox is tritium. This watch is advertised as T25 (how much total tritium is on the watch) but I would guess that it’s less. There’s just not enough tritium to justify the price when there are other Luminox models and competitors in a similar price point with more tritium. If the amount of tritium will be less on this model it should at least come with an extra band or priced lower. There’s a missed opportunity for added value to this watch. As it stands it’s definitely priced to high. DO NOT PAY FULL MSRP for this watch. Find it discounted elsewhere. It’s a shame because it’s nice looking watch.

Review the product pictures very carefully. The lume tubes are not on each hour marker. The pictures only shows a minor change. Compared to my 20+ years in buying products from Luminox, this is a very cheap way to roll this product out. Add the lume tubes to all hour markers and keep it at the same price.

Thank you for your feedback. We will update the product description on the website so it is more clear that this collection features a combination of Super LmiNova and tritium tubes. Some people quite like Super LumiNova which is why some of our watches offer it instead of tritium. Super LumiNova is a brand name under which strontium aluminate–based non-radioactive and nontoxic photo-luminescent or afterglow pigments for illuminating markings on watch dials, hands and bezels, etc. in the dark are marketed. This technology offers up to ten times higher brightness than previous zinc sulfide–based materials. These types of phosphorescent pigments, often called "lume", operate like a light battery. After sufficient activation by sunlight or artificial light, they glow in the dark for hours. Larger markings are visible for the whole night. This activation and subsequent light emission process can be repeated again and again, and the material does not suffer any practical aging.

I haven't had a Luminox since I was a kid. The Commando Raider meets the requirements (reliability, durability, and versatility) I need in a watch as a Firearms Instructor. This is the best watch I have in my collection. I can't run from the fact that Luminox makes the most versatile timepieces.

This is an OK watch but has a few shortcomings. I like the face color, the date digits are big enough to be read, and the 24 hour hand. Less attractive is the outer ring (bezel) with lots of extraneous markings, e.g., compass directions. The band has to be trimmed to fit one's wrist, so cut carefully. Replacements are $80! The second hand has no luminous marker and both the hour and minute hands have the same color so one may need to look carefully at night.

Band is not clearly depicted on the website that you have to cut it for size and no instructions on how to cut it. Picture of watch glowing on the website is far brighter than the actual watch. I am returning it. DO NOT BUY THIS WATCH!
